The Institute of Sex Research in Opole, Poland is a nonprofit, non-government research institute (a foundation), which started its activity in 2008. The Institute’s mission is "contributing to the development of the research on sexual and reproductive human life." The main areas of activity of the Institute are: scientific research, documentation and literature collecting, publishing of scientific works, and sexual education, counseling and therapy.[1]

The Institute's activity is based on the principle of interdisciplinarity and complementary in a research. Research covers a variety of traditional disciplines, and above all: philosophy, sociology, psychology, pedagogy, history, social anthropology, law science, biology, and medicine. The Institute has an unique, network structure, where researchers are located in various parts of the country, while the main way of communication between them is an ICT platform.[2]

In 2014, the Institute had 16 research cooperators. The chairman of board of the foundation for the Institute is Jerzy A. Kowalski.
