Lee Chae-Yeon (Korean: 이채연, born 11 January 2000) is a South Korean singer and dancer. She became part of the South Korean-Japanese girl group Iz One after placing twelfth in the competition television show Produce 48.

Career

2013–2018: Pre-debut

In 2013, Chae-Yeon joined the survival show K-pop Star 3 with her sister Chae-Ryeong. They were praised for their dance performance by the show judge and JYP Entertainment producer Park Jin-young, and were signed into JYP Entertainment even though they didn't make it into the finals.[1]

In 2015, Chae-Yeon joined her second survival show SIXTEEN as a JYP trainee, a show that was co-hosted by JYP and Mnet. She was the first to be eliminated from the show after failing to pass a photoshoot mission.[2] After the show, she remained as a JYP trainee until the end of 2016.

Chae-Yeon became a WM Entertainment trainee at the beginning of 2017. In 2018, she joined her third survival show PRODUCE 48 with two other WM trainees, and was enlisted in 12th place in the show to debut under the girl group Iz One.[3]

2018–present: Iz One

Chae-Yeon officially debuted with Iz One and the debut album Color*Iz on October 29, 2018.

Personal life

Her sister, Lee Chae-Ryeong, is a member of 2019 rookie girl group ITZY under JYP Entertainment.[4]
