Usage-Based Billing
Usage-Based Billing or metered billing is a model where you track the consumption limits of a product or service.
Overview
Usage-Based Billing software models are used to facilitate one's own company and its customers. The software is becoming popular due to its control and flexibility options. Usage billing allows a user to automate recurring tasks for a better process. The software handles invoicing, taxation, and payment reminders. Usage Billing helps to increase retention and attracts customers and drives revenues. Attracting customers to offers of usage-based billing models provides customers and encourages them to utilize the service before opting for yearly subscriptions.[1] Usage-based SaaS billing software allows customers to choose product packages or services as per their economic convenience.[2]
An alternative to Usage-based billing is Consumption-based models, usually based on customer's usage than on discrete transactions and flat-rate fees. Another level of billing model is Subscription-based models, which create a fixed recurring price, where the price remains the same.[3]
