Sunglass Fix is an Australian online retailer and manufacturing business located in Billinudgel, New South Wales. Founded in 2006,[1] Sunglass Fix specializes in manufacturing replacement lenses for non-prescription sunglasses. As of 2022, the company possesses the world’s largest collection of replacement sunglass lenses and has sold their lenses to customers in over 170 countries.[2]
History[edit]
The company's early beginnings came in 2005 when Craig Anderson began exploring the possibility of creating an environmentally-friendly sunglass lens replacement business after realizing there were limited options in the global consumer market to replace damaged sunglass lenses.[3] Operating out of the garage of his New South Wales home,[4] Anderson developed the product and a distribution network, and the company was formally founded in 2006.
The business was formed as “The Sunglass Fix” with a modern workshop constructed in Billinudgel, approximately 22 km from Byron Bay. In 2017 the company underwent a rebranding process that included renaming the company as “Sunglass Fix” and establishing its new logo still in use today.
In 2021, Sunglass Fix hired British designers Baxter & Bailey[5] to complete an update to the company's branding and packaging. New colorways, typography, and website animation graphics were part of the rebranding.[6] It also saw the introduction of a new innovative award-nominated[7] packaging design made of recyclable material.[8]
As of 2021, Sunglass Fix offers over 300,000 replacement lenses on its e-commerce website and has shipped to customers in over 150 countries.[9]
Philanthropy & Sustainability[edit]
In July 2021[10] Sunglass Fix joined the One Percent for the Planet project, committing to donate one percent of their annual revenue to the pro-environment program.
The company is committed to sustainability, with its headquarters using recycled rainwater and producing 25 kw of solar power, less than the amount of energy used by the business itself.[11]
Awards[edit]
Sunglass Fix has been recognised with numerous prizes and nominations, including becoming the first business to win three consecutive Platinum Customer Service Awards at the annual Australian Customer Service Awards.[12]
It’s also been recognised for its environmentally-friendly practices and its international success as an Australian business.
