Triggernometry is a free UK based audio and video podcast hosted by Russian comedian Konstantin Kisin and British comedian Francis Foster. It was launched in February 2018.[1][2] Centered around "open, fact-based discussion of important and controversial issues,"[3] the show features interviews with guests ranging from celebrities to lesser known figures that offer challenging questions mixed with humor.[4]
Transgender Controversy[edit]
In November, 2019, Triggernometry released an interview with Posie Parker,[5] who is described by some as an anti-Trans campaigner[6] and is self-described as "one of the most well known people in [the] pushback against the trans assault of women."[7] Triggernometry titled the interview on YouTube as "Posie Parker: 'Trans Women Aren't Women'", a reference to her social media campaign launched earlier that year.[6] A controversy around the episode arose when YouTube removed the video of the interview from their platform for violating their rules on "hate-speech".[8][9][10][11][12] Douglas Murray defended the interview by pointing out that both hosts pushed back against Parker's more inflammatory views and criticized her claim that transgender women were in fact men.[12] Konstantin Kisin defended their interview by claiming "We did what any mainstream broadcaster would do… We invited Posie on, discussed her views and pushed back against them."[10] Kisin went further in an article in Quillette, by explaining that they had previously done an interview with India Willoughby, a transgender public figure, about being a transgender woman, and that they invited Posie Parker to come on the show as "someone from the other side of the debate".[11] A few days after removing the episode, YouTube reinstated it back onto their site without any further explanation.[9]
A month later, Triggernometry released an interview with self-identified "transexual" YouTuber Rose of Dawn.[13][14] In the Rose of Dawn interview, the episode with Posie Parker was discussed, and Rose explained that while she strongly disagrees with what Parker said in the episode, she did not think that Parker should be silenced for saying it.[13][15]
