Tron (cryptocurrency)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Tron (TRX) is a blockchain based platform for monetizing digital entertainment, allowing publishers to share content without a middleman service.[1][2] The network allows users to publish and store data, as well as determine how the content gets distributed and for what cost.[3]

History[edit]

Tron was originally launched as an ERC-20 token.[4]

In January 2018, Tron was criticized by users on Reddit and Twitter for plagiarizing elements of their whitepaper.[5] According to Wired, "Tron duplicated phrases word for word, without any citations", and in response Tron took down their whitepaper and wrote these were issues caused by translation errors.[6] The same month, Tron made up 11% of Binance's trade volume.[7]

In early June 2018, BitTorrent was acquired by Justin Sun for $140M USD, and later that week Tron launched their MainNet protocol allowing users to send transactions.[8]
