Yoo Ji-ae ( Hangul 유지애); born May 21, 1993) known as Jiae, is a South Korean Actress, Singer, and Radio DJ.[1] She made her solo debut with the digital single "Delight" on April 24, 2013, and later debuted as a member of the South Korean girl group Lovelyz under Woollim Entertainment. On November 16, 2021, she decided not to renew her contract with Woollim Entertainment[2] and now has signed an exclusive contract with YG KPlus as an actress, singer and entertainer.[3]
Early Life
Yoo Jiae, also known as Jiae, was born on May 21, 1993 in Dobong-gu, Seoul, South Korea[4]. Her family consists of her parents and an older sister. (Yoo Miae) After graduating from Dongbuk Elementary School and Justice Girls' Middle School, she went on to Miyang High School, but transferred to Seoul Performing Arts High School and graduated from there.

Career
2010-2013 : Pre-debut
In April 2010, Yoo Jiae (17 international age) appeared in Mnet's reality program (Infinite! You Are My Oppa!) 《인피니트! 당신은 나의 오빠》 [5] as the younger sister of the South Korean boy group Infinite.
At the same time, she also worked as a model for a magazine called YOZO.
She became a trainee of Woollim Entertainment after and was featured in the 'Running Man’ Zombie Special' together with other Woollim trainees on June 2012.[6]
On April 24, 2013, she debuted with her first solo single "Delight", along with B1A4 Baro, which reached the Top 20 on various online music sites such as Melon and Soriba, and also ranked 16 in Mcountdown Chart.[7]
2014 : Debut with Lovelyz
Jiae (20 international age) officially debuted with Lovelyz on November 12, 2014. She is the second eldest in the group and was in charge of sub vocals and visuals.
Woollim Entertainment held their debut showcase at the K-ART Hall in Olympic Park. The group's debut studio album Girls' Invasion was officially released on November 17, along with its lead single titled "Candy Jelly Love".
Lovelyz' 'Girl Invasion' debuted at #1 on Japan's Tower Record and #9 on Taiwan's Five Music Korea-Japan Weekly Chart, which is very impressive considering they are a rookie group. [8]
2014 - 2021 : Solo Activities
She had a brief appearance in the drama The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Taylor Shop Episode 29, together with other Lovelyz members Jisoo, Mijoo, and Yein as four high school girls who show interest in Kang Tae Yang, the male lead of the drama.[9]
On November 4 and 11, 2019, she appeared as a Special DJ at MBC Idol Radio for the first time together with member Ryu Sujeong along with BDC (Boys of Korea) as guests.[10]
On January 6, 7, 8 and 11, 2020 she again appeared as a Special DJ at MBC Idol Radio together with member Ryu Sujeong along with B.O.Y (Mon), ONF(Tues), and We In The Zone.[11]
Jiae hosted on Avengirls which is a new original show by Naver NOW every Friday, together with Oh My Girl Hyojung, Cosmic Girls Dayoung, April Naeun, and Gfriend Eunha as hosts. She has been a host on 'Aven Girls' for 6 months and has been communicating with her listeners by comforting the sad and upset listeners, and gave warm advice to the parts they were worried about, giving them a special healing. On July 24, 2020, Jiae was announced to be a fixed guest on the Radio Broadcast for SBS Power FM's "배성재의 텐 (Bae Sungjae’s Ten)" with her own segment "(Konmyokkonmyohae) 꼰묘꼰묘해" that airs every Friday, earning her a new nickname Kkondae[13]
2021 - Present : Departure from Woollim and Joined YG Kplus
On November 16, 2021, after seven years, the exclusive contracts of Lovelyz expired and Jiae, along with the 7 members of Lovelyz (Seo Ji-soo, Lee Mi-joo, Kei, Jin, Ryu Su-jeong, and Jeong Ye-in), decided not to renew their contracts and left the company. On the other hand, leader Lee Soojung (Baby Soul) signed a new contract with Woollim.[14]
Two days later, on November 18, Jiae signed an exclusive contract with YG K Plus. YG K+ said, "We will do our best to inform the public of Yoo Ji-ae's new side and charm, and we will spare no effort to provide full support so that she can utilize her talent and talent to carry out more diverse and active activities in the future." “We ask for your support and love for Yoo Ji-ae, who announced a new start,” they said. On December 1, 2021, Jiae was cast for the Horror Series '4 Minutes: 44 Seconds' presented by Lotte Entertainment together with Gfriend Kim So-jung, SHINEE Onew, Infinite Lee Sungyeol, JBJ Kwon Hyun-bin and many more. The series deals with topics closely related to one’s daily life in the limited space of their apartment, such as ASMR, package deliveries, and noisy neighbors.[16]
On December 23, 2021, Jiae opened her own Youtube Channel (유지애Yoo ji-ae), showing her funny and cute sides to the public and communicating with her fans through Youtube lives and contents.[17] The videos on her Youtube Channel were made together with her friends aka 'Devil Production Beast Friends'(데브리프로덕션 짐승친구들). To show gratitude to her fans, Jiae held her first solo fanmeeting '2022 Winter Fanmeeting - Yoo Jiae 30's Story' on January 22, 2022 that was held offline and online. The tickets for Yoo Ji-ae's fan meeting were sold out in 10 seconds, which shows how much her fans and people love her. On the fanmeeting, she revealed her fandom name, which is (카니들 | Cannie) Lovelyz member Jeong Yein appeared as the MC and Ryu Su-jeong, appeared as a guest and showed off their unchanging friendship. This fan meeting was meaningful as it was her first ever solo fan meeting and her official meeting with her fans after the disbandment of Lovelyz. She expressed her gratitude to the fans who showed a lot of interest and love. Yoo Ji-ae said, "I think 2022 will be a special year for me. I wondered if the fans I haven't seen in a long time are doing well and in good health. Thank you for the love, always,” she said, and even after the fan meeting ended, she posted a picture of a bouquet of flowers on Instagram along with the words “30’s story to be with Cannie in the future”.[19]
After leaving Woollim Entertainment, Jiae was still a fixed guest on SBS Power FM Bae Seongjae's Ten with her own segment "(Konmyokkonmyohae) 꼰묘꼰묘해" that airs every Friday. On February 21, 2022, Jiae appeared as a Special DJ for SBS Bae Seongjae Eui Ten on Gorilla or Kakao TV.[20]
On February 17, 2022, Jiae was cast as the female lead for the movie 'Pinwheel | 바람개비', together with actor Cha Seonwoo (B1A4 Baro). 'Pinwheel' directed by Lee Sanghoon, is a youth noir film depicting the not-so-bright lives and love of young people who are entangled with memories and wounds. The movie is about to premiere in the month of July/August and the new appearance of Jiae as an actress is highly anticipated.[21]
