sweet pool (スウィート プール Sūīto Pūru, stylized in all lowercase) is a Japanese erotic body horror boys love visual novel developed and published by Nitro+chiral, written by Kabura Fuchī [ja] and illustrated by Seiji Onitsuka. It was originally released on December 19, 2008 for Windows PCs. A remastered version with higher resolution graphics and support for modern PCs was released on May 25, 2018.[1] A CERO D rated version for PlayStation Vita was released on May 31, 2018 by dramatic create.[2]
On February 23, 2018, it was announced that JAST USA's new JAST BLUE branch, which focuses on boys love games, would release sweet pool in English as its debut title.[3] The game was released on December 19, 2018, with an edited version on Steam that removed explicit sex scenes and an uncut version on JAST USA with mosaic censorship removed.[4]
Gameplay
sweet pool is a visual novel, and as such most of its gameplay is spent on reading the story's narrative and dialogue. Decision points are presented in an ambiguous way, as choices between following the protagonist's instinct (a red spot on the upper right of the screen) or reason (a blue spot on the lower left). Depending on these choices, the story branches into six different endings.
Plot
After yet another long stay in the hospital, Sakiyama Youji hoped that things would finally get back to normal. But shortly after returning to school, his world begins to change — and no one seems to notice.
Bizarre symptoms plague his body, and vivid hallucinations of blood and flesh stalk his every waking moment. At the same time, two fellow students — the stoic Tetsuo and the notorious troublemaker Zenya — begin to take an intense and inexplicable interest in him.
What are Tetsuo and Zenya after? Are his hallucinations really nothing more? Everyone seems to know more than they’re letting on — but by trying to put the pieces together, Youji may be sowing the seeds of his doom.
