British Corner Shop is a UK-based online retailer that delivers British brands globally..[1]. They ship approximately 5 million products annually[2] and hold over 10,000 products in their warehouse[3] - based in Yate, Bristol, England[4]. Brand delivered include Marmite, Walkers, Warburtons and Heinz. British Corner Shop's head office employs approximately fifty to eighty employees, depending on the season.

History[edit]

The company was originally founded in 1999 and was taken over by Managing Director, Mark Callaghan, in 2004. Peter Howarth joined the company shortly after as Technical Director[5]

Business Operations[edit]

In 2016, British Corner Shop partnered with Waitrose and added 2,000 Waitrose-label products to its existing stock[6]. British Corner Shop is the official international distributor of Dr. Oetker and Childs Farm.

With a primary focus on expatriate markets, British Corner Shop is the largest British food exporter in the sector[1]. In 2017 British Corner Shop’s revenue was approximately £12m.

As an online retailer, British Corner Shop utilise a range of digital marketing strategies, including newsletter, pay-per-click, search engine optimisation and social media[1]

Awards[edit]

In 2016, British Corner Shop received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade in recognition of its outstanding export performance[7]

British Corner Shop was named in the Sunday Times BT Business SMA Export Track 100, which ranks Britain’s top 100 private small and medium sized companies with the fastest growing international sales over the last 2 years[8]
