HPP Architekten is an international architectural company with its head office situated in Düsseldorf, Germany. The company was founded in 1933 by Helmut Hentrich, and now has more than 450 employees in 13 offices worldwide. HPP is the largest architectural firm in Germany according to the "World Architecture 100 Ranking 2021”.[1]
The leadership is currently by architects Gerhard G. Feldmeyer (since 2002) and V. Weuthen (since 2020, after the resignation as managing partner according to the HPP regulations of Joachin H. Faust).[2][3]
Helmut Hentrich studied with Hans Poelzig in Berlin and worked in various architectural offices around the world until 1933, when, after winning the Schinkel Prize, he founded the company in Düsseldorf, which has since become known as HPP.
Most of the early commissions came from the private sector and consisted of residential buildings in Düsseldorf and the surrounding area.
In 1968 the internationalization began with the project of Standard Bank Centre's Headquartier in South Africa, the city's first high-rise. This was followed by further international projects and the first international locations in the 2000s.[4]
Over the years the company has specialized in the design of office and administrative buildings, shopping centers, sports facilities, residential buildings, healthcare buildings, hotels, leisure and transport facilities.
