Ilya Yurevich Shagalov (Russian: Илья Юрьевич Шагалов; born on December 14, 1986) Russian stage director, video artist and film director.
A feature of his work is study of media technologies in a performative environment. Working between the intersection of contemporary art, multimedia and theatre.
Biography[edit]
Ilya Shagalov was born in 1986 in Krasnodar. Originally Ilya has a theatre eduction. During the study he participated in creation Video-art. As a student he became practice to work in Theatre.[1]
From childhood, he showed interest in the fine arts and technology. Graduated a musical education in piano.
In 2008 he graduated as an Actor in Krasnodar State University of Culture and Arts, the course of Vladimir Rogulchenko, whom been a student of the Anatoly Vasiliev. After graduating from the university, he enrolled in a Kirill Serebrennikov's directing course in the Moscow Art Theatre School , from which subsequently grew the "Seventh Studio".[2]
In 2013 graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School and joined the troupe of Gogol Center.[3]

Professional activity[edit]
Ilya exploring the new language of theater in multimedia. As a director Ilya Shagalov starts with "The Fairytale Lives of Russian Girls"[4] by Meg Miroshnik. On the "Platforma project" creates "Funny Dream"[5] by Fyodor Dostoevsky, also he restored production "The Fairies"[6] which they released with director David Bobée in 2011 in Moscow Art Theatre.
Since 2004 Ilya has been engaged in video art. As a video artist, he designed more than a dozen drama and opera[7] productions in Russia and Europe. Ilya has been a regular collaborator and co-creator of Kirill Serebrennikov's productions. From dramatic to opera productions.
As a lecturer director and video-artist, he works at various venues in Russia and abroad Europe. Exhibited at various museum venues
In 2022 The director left the country.
