Lars Ootes (born April 16, 1991) is a Dutch chess player.

Chess career[edit]

In November 2010, he played in the Cultural Village Tournament, which acted as the qualifier for the Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2011. Although failing to qualify, he managed to defeat Roeland Pruijssers and held grandmaster Subramanian Arun Prasad to a draw in their games.[1]

In August 2011, he teamed with his brother Lennart and won the Leiden Kroeg & Loper Tournament.[2]

In January 2012, he played in group C of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament, where he managed to score wins against higher-rated players Tania Sachdev and grandmaster Elina Danielian and held draws against higher-rated grandmasters Daan Brandenburg, Adhiban Baskaran, and Matthew Sadler.[3][4]

In June 2022, he won the Utrecht Masters.[5]

In November 2022, he won the Open Vila de Gràcia, where he remained undefeated.[6] That same month, he played in the Llobregat Open Chess Tournament, where he defeated super-grandmaster Yu Yangyi in their encounter.[7]

In November 2023, he won the III Memorial Joan Segura Group A, in which he was playing for the Tres Peons C.E. chess club.[8]
