M. Alex O. Vasilescu is an American computer scientist, known for TensorFaces, and more generally for introducing and extending the tensor framework for computer vision, computer graphics, and machine learning. The National Academies of Science awarded the Keck Futures Initiative grant, and MIT's Technology Review magazine named her to their List of Top 100 Innovators to watch[5]. Her research on TensorFaces[1], Human Motion Signatures[6] and TensorTextures[7] was featured in various articles in the popular press, such as on the cover of Computer World,[8] and in the New York Times.[9]. Vasilescu was educated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Toronto.
