Place de Verdun is located in the city center of Pau. It has a north-south orientation.
Description[edit]
In ordinary times, it serves as a convenient and free parking space in the city centre (around 1,500 spaces). It also hosts various events: carousel fair, circuses, July 14 parades, etc. It welcomes arrivals from the Tour de France.
The northern (Cours Camou) and eastern (rue de Liège) approaches to Place de Verdun are planted with platanus and filled with sand, which allows pétanque players to come and share a moment with their friends; competitions are sometimes organized there.
Along the caserne Bernadotte there are sports fields and at the end play areas for children.
From Cours Camou, you can contemplate the Château de Pau which stands out against the Pyrenees in the background.
