Rik Annema is a Dutch music producer, songwriter, guitarist and singer. He was a former lead singer of the indie-pop band A Silent Express.

A Silent Express[edit]

The band consisted of Rik Annema (vocals/guitar), Sanne Meems (drums) and brothers Dirk Sander Kooistra (bass guitar) and Henk Jan Kooistra (keys). From 2004, Annema was the Guitarist of the band..[1]. With the song "Will I Be Around" they were 3FM's Serious Talent[2] at the end of April 2010.

The band had been making music full-time since 2008. In March 2010, the band signed with the ditch label 8Ball. A Silent Express' first single was "Will I Be Around. The music video for this first radio single was made by New York and Amsterdam-based photographer and director Stephanie Pistel[3].

At the end of 2010, the Frisian band released the album Now! Including their first and best-known single 'Will I Be Around', which Rik wrote. But the following singles 'I Never Saw This Coming' and 'I Can't Say (I Wasn't Afraid)' were also on it.

In 2011, it was announced that the band would be supporting Duran Duran[4]

Further career[edit]

After the success of A Silent Express, Annema had been mostly busy writing music. For example, he co-wrote such records as Sex - Cheat Codes by Kris Kross Amsterdam, Where Have You Gone (Anywhere) by Lucas & Steve, All Comes Back To You by R3HAB and How You Love Me (feat. Conor Maynard & Snoop Dogg) - Hardwell, Conor Maynard, Snoop Dogg[5]
