The Seletar Line (SLL) is a planned medium-capacity Mass Rapid Transit line in Singapore. In most future MRT maps the line is coloured pink, and runs mainly along the north-east corridor of Singapore, starting in the north of Woodlands town, passing through Sembawang North, Sengkang West, Bendemeer and most likely ending at Greater Southern Waterfront, though it is possible that it would terminate at Marina South Pier instead. The line is currently under planning and would only be completed by 2040, if approved.

History[edit]

The Seletar Line was first proposed in the Land Transport Master Plan 2040 by the Land Transport Authority. It is planned to run along the northeastern corridor of Singapore, bringing the transport network closer to developing neighbourhoods and current ones which do not have direct access to it. If the line is approved, it could potentially serve areas such as Sembawang, Simpang, Seletar, Serangoon North, Whampoa and the future Greater Southern Waterfront, bringing greater convenience to more than 400,000 households. The line may also relieve congestion in other MRT lines in those areas, such as the North South Line, and cutting travel times to up to 40 minutes travelling to the CBD. [1]It would be built by 2040, if confirmed.

Planning[edit]

Possible interchanges with other MRT lines include Woodlands North MRT Station, Serangoon North MRT station, Boon Keng MRT Station, Mountbatten MRT Station, Katong Park MRT Station and Marina South Pier MRT Station. There has also recently been heavy discussion over the possible alignments and interchanges for the Seletar Line on many transport-related forums such as SkyscraperCity. Questions to whether the Seletar Line will serve the upcoming Greater Southern Waterfront, or would just end at Marina South Pier MRT Station, have also been raised.
