The AK-65 Power Toss Trap IV Dressing

The AK-65 Power Toss Trap IV Dressing is a technique of dressing an intravenous catheter in a particular way to make it more patent and secure for use in CT(computed tommography) IV contrast injections.

On June 22nd of 2023 Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, MN went live with a new brand of IV catheters. During the first week there were issues surrounding the durablity and trustworthiness of said IV catheters, especially in the setting of CT(computed tommagraphy) contrast power injection.

Technologists and Nurses were desparate to find a better way to dress the IVs to make them more durable. In the second week, on or about, June 27th 2023 a Technologist Chris Dene noticed a nurse (Gabby B.) use a dressing technique that was durable, provided more longevity, and was secure for normal use and IV contrast injections. The technologist then spread it around to the ED(emergency department) staff for them to start dressing IVs in this manner and credited Gabby B. with the innovation. This was the first occurrence of this particular dressing technique at Woodwinds Hospital, as far as any body knows.

Then, on or about July 18th 2023 two technologists Alex P. and Kou Y. started telling other nursing staff about how they 'came-up' with a new technique of IV dressing that was better than the standard dressing, which included the same techniques as Gabby B. This is when Kou Y. officially named this technique of dressing IVs at WWH "The AK-65 Power Toss Trap IV Dressing".
