Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt is a Danish ceramist and a designer.[1][2] The daily Politiken portrays Schmidt as one of the most prominent Danish figures at the Milano Design Week 2023; "carpets meander on the floor, just as the lamps are almost as snakes in the air".[3] Schmidt was highlighted as part The Mindcraft Project of 2022.[4][5]
Schmidt holds a master's degree from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design and is a winner of the Binnale Prize 1995.[6] Her work as a ceramist is part of the permanent collection at both Design Museum Denmark and Trapholt. She creates custom build, unica Art Nouveau inspired lamps in collaboration with Nilufar Gallery[7] and Dimore Studio[8] in Milano. She works with porcelain, wood, metal and plexiglass and designs lamps as well as objects, carpets etc. Her artistic perspective is characterized by an interest in geometry and systems – and dismantling them.
