Yolines Diarte-Pacheco, better known as Yoly Pacheco, is a Mexican-American Christian ventriloquist.

Background[edit]

Born in Sonora, Mexico, Pacheco developed an interest in ventriloquism at age 11 while involved in Christian ministry with her parents. During these evangelical trips, Pacheco would entertain children at the churches visited. Although using sock puppets initially out of an admitted shyness, after placing first in a talent show in her teenage years, Pacheco recognized a potential for ministry with this skillset. Pacheco would expand into more advanced puppetry, as well as performing shows for both children and their parents as a family entertainer.[1] As part of the Yoly Pacheco Ventriloquist Show, Pacheco now performs as a professional, English-Spanish bilingual, Christian evangelist.

Career[edit]

Based in Ahwatukee, Arizona, Pacheco, her husband Arnie Pacheco, and their daughter Lindsay Veglia, have traveled to many states in the US and many countries in Latin America and Europe, including Peru & Honduras.[2][3] The Pacheco family primarily travels out of state on weekends as Arnie holds a full-time position at a local lumber mill in Arizona.[4]

Pacheco has performed with many puppets, including Goyita, a female turtle, Maggie and Junior, two human children, Plumitas the bird, and others. Stories and skits with the puppets are occasionally inspired by times with her daughter, Lindsay. While emphasizing entertainment and Christian evangelism, Pacheco will also occasionally educate on more sensitive topics such as sexual abuse to increase awareness for both parents and children.[5] Pacheco will at times sing with her puppets in shows, and has been involved in the children's musical group La Patrulla del Rey for the song Soy hijo de Dios,[6] and on sparse occasions sings for events without the use of puppetry, such as with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.[7]

On many occasions, Pacheco has worked alongside other Christian performers including Daniel Calveti, Raúl Sánchez, and Chonda Pierce.[8][9]
