"the SPAT"

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

“The SPAT” began one fine Aireys Sunday afternoon after watching Los Locos play at Andi's birthday party at the pub. We returned to Anna and Paul's place, where they were looking after Nina's drum kit while she was living in Berlin with her parents, Mick and Diana. The drum kit just fit in Mia's old bedroom. Mia had moved out two weeks earlier. We gathered other equipment, and soon we had a cramped band room where the magic happened. We would "borrow" the town's PA system from the pub whenever it was available and jam, laugh, and work out some of our favorite songs. It helped not having any permanent neighbors. Originally, the SPAT consisted of Sharon, Paul, Anna, and Tony, named as a playful reference to ABBA, though we don't yet play any ABBA songs. Bricky soon joined as a cowbell player, followed by Dave, whom we weaned off his ukulele and banjo, suggesting he would excel on keyboards. Playing an eclectic mix of not-so-obscure hits, we create SPAT versions of some of your favorite songs. We have played the Aireys Music Festival a couple of times, supporting the likes of the Hoodoo Gurus and the rock band Okistra, as well as Pressed Rat and Warthog at Hugh and Libby's pong break-up party. We even did a "tour" down the Great Ocean Road.
