'Arry and Bert (also known as Iron 'Arry and Iron Bert) are two twin diesel engines. They are based on the BR Class 08[1] like Diesel, Paxton , Splatter & Dodge and Sidney. They work together at the scrapyards and smelters of the Sodor Ironworks.

Creator

They were created by Britt Allcroft and David Mitton for the TV Series.

TV Series

They first appeared in the 13th episode of the 5th Series of Thomas & Friends, Stepney Gets Lost, where Stepney came to the Sodor Ironworks and they shunted him into a smelter, but luckily he was saved in the second by the Fat Controller. Arry and Bert appeared in many movies of Thomas & Friends, such as Calling All Engines! (2005), The Great Discovery (2008) where they made cameos, and Day of the Diesels (2011). They also appeared in other movies like Thomas and Friends: The Great Race (2016), Journey Beyond Sodor (2017), and Big World! Big Adventures! (2018) as cameos. Their last appearance was in the first special of 23rd series named Steam Team to Rescue.
