Êl Begê Caf

Êl Begê Caf (Kurdish: عێل بەگی جاف, born in Shahrizor; 1492–1553) was a Kurdish poet and leader of the Jaff tribe. He adhered to Yarsanism and wrote his poetry in mixed Gorani and Kurdish.[1] Beside poems, he wrote religious texts pertaining to his Yarsani beliefs.[2]
Biography[edit]
Êl Begê Caf was born Shahrizor in 1492 and went to study in Baghdad and later Iran, before moving to Avroman to defend himself against enemies of Yarsanism and ultimately died there in 1553. He wrote five poems.[1]
