Şehzade Mahmud (1512 – 12 October 1525) was the first son of Suleiman the Magnificent and Mahidevran Sultan, when Suleiman was a Şehzade.[1] She was Süleyman’s first concubine and the chief consort (Mahidevran Sultan) for a short period before her son died. Mahmud died of smallpox in 1525 at the age of 12-13 years, when his father had after become sultan of the Ottoman Empire.
