It is one of the 20 kanji added to the Kyoiku kanji that are found in the names of the following prefectures of Japan[2]. It is the first character in (Gifu).[2]

The character also refers to Qi (Li Maozhen's state).[3]


In Chinese it is also a second round simplified form of .
