The musical genre (h)anxiety refers to sad music that helps when you are depressed because it aligns with the listener's mood.
Definition[edit]
This genre, also called hansiety or Hanxiety, approaches the discomfort of the listener by making them feel less alone and understood.
It includes artists who convey the anxiety and/or discomfort they feel in life.
Origin[edit]
In 2018 The Soft Moon published the Criminal album and in a interview declared "I’m suffering from anxiety or depression"[1]. This is the first birth sigh of the new genre : Hanxiety, later aka (H)anxiety .
Other signal that some kind of music was coming from a status of anxiety and it wants to transmit it is in another declaration of Gilla Band in this interview " Kiely having an anxiety attack; elsewhere in the album, he moaned and retched, stuck out on a limb from the band. "[2]
A study appeared in 2023 in this article shows that "over 70% of UK musicians suffering from anxiety"[3] and transmit it in their works and live exibitions.
