Sound Designer file

Files with .dig extension can be associated with Sound Designer. DIG files were developed by Digidesign and they were released in 1985. Their main use is to contain short tones. Another extension for this type of file is .sd, and the successor is SD2, which is a more flexible format. Files with the DIG extension can be opened with FMJ-Software Awave Audio and MAGIX Sound Forge Pro 13 in Windows-based systems. However, to open these files on a Mac, you can use Digidesign Sound Designer.

Digilink data file

These files can also be associated with different versions of Digilink. In this case, DIG files are data files containing various information in text format, such as schedules, system passwords, clock settings, and activity logs. You can open these files with any text editor or, in Windows, with the programs Digilink 2 and 3. These files are commonly found in two archives:

  • DLAUDIT.DIG: A file containing log activity, including error messages, which is helpful for diagnosing bugs in the event of a system crash.
  • CLOCKS.DIG: A file containing system passwords for Digilink, the job list, and clock configuration details.
