Background
"100th Drug" was written by Mathis Quentin Gamonnet, as well as some of his friends. Gamme began working on his debut album in summer 2021 as he was going to parties; a friend of his started to ask when he was to release his first song.
Release and cover
"100th Drug" was originally going to be released on November 12, 2021, but was later decided to be released earlier. "100th Drug" premiered on Soundcloud on November 5, 2021 and became available for digital download through iTunes, Spotify and more the next day.
