1179th Deployment Support Brigade
The 1179th Deployment Support Brigade was a United States Army Reserve unit headquartered at Fort Hamilton, New York. The Brigade provided deployment support, logistics coordination, and port operations for Army units moving through the New York region.

History
The brigade supported U.S. operations in the Balkans during the late 1990s, contributing personnel and logistics expertise to missions connected with the Stabilization Force (SFOR) in Bosnia.[1]
On 3 November 2001, the brigade held a change‑of‑command ceremony at Fort Hamilton. Col. Daniel Ganci assumed command from Col. John M. McHugh. The event received public attention due to the attendance of New York City firefighters honoring Ganci’s brother, FDNY Chief Peter J. Ganci Jr., who was killed during the September 11 attacks.[2]
