On December 22, 2014, an unusual event took place in the Clementine Hall of the Apostolic Palace. Pope Francis did something in the face of cardinals and staff of the Vatican Curia that no other pope had ever done before. He publicly drew the attention of his employees to 15 diseases from which the institutional Church – one of the world's largest corporations – suffers.

Inspired by the Pope's speech, Gary Hamel, one of the leading authorities in the field of leadership, published in Harvard Business Review 15 Principles of Leadership According to Pope Francis, emphasizing that although these words were spoken among the staff of the Vatican Curia, they can be an excellent signpost for anyone, regardless of religion, nationality, age or profession.

The Pope pointed out 15 problems that leaders and institutions are grappling with today. Among them were: arrogance, intolerance, myopia and pettiness.

The Pope's unusual speech during the event has been an impulse for the creation of an international program "Masterclass Leadership with the Pope".
