16 Poly

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

16 Poly[1] is an Israeli indie rock band. It was formed in Tel Aviv in summer of 2002 by Guy Levy and his lifelong friend Gil Manor. Inspired by the eclectic, free-spirited musical approach of Canadian Pop collective Bran Van 3000, 16 Poly combined scrappy Tel Aviv-style guitar rock with a sweet 80's pop sound and quirky lyrics.

In 2005, they collaborated with singer/songwriter Roni Alter[2][circular reference][3], bass player Itamar Barak, and drummer Rotem Florentin and released their debut EP[4]. The EP caught the attention of local press, and the song “Tangerine Girl” got generous airplay on national radio station 88 FM and TV music channel 24[5]. The song was also featured on the soundtrack of hit Israeli rom-com Mr. Predictable[6][circular reference] in 2016[7].

In summer of 2006, during the Second Lebanon War, the band recorded and released “War Zone” featuring singer Mika Hary, and drummer Dan Eckert. The song was ranked as one of the year's top 20 songs[8]by Ma’ariv Online.

In 2011, after a 5-year recording session with sound engineer Ran Israeli, the band released its second album[9], Change the Subject. Though the album earned good reviews in local press, 16 Poly had disbanded by the time of its release[10].

In 2020, Guy Levy and Gil Manor reunited to bring 16 Poly back to life and released “What's your name,” a first single from their upcoming EP[11].
