The 17th Lux Style Awards presented by Lux to honor the best in Music,Fashion,Films and Pakistani Television of 2017 took place on February 22, 2018. This year Lux took a new initiative of spreading awareness about social issues common in our society and to stand up for them. The song Uth Bandh Kamar Kya Darta Hai has been renamed as Mein Bhi by LSA. This year Punjab Nahi Jaungi bagged most awards in Film Categories while drama serial Baaghi took the most awards in Television Categories.

Controversies
17th Lux Style Awards was mainly a target of controversies. The controversy happened between Mahira Khan and Mehwish Hayat as Mahira Khan was awarded Best Film Actress 3rd time in a row for Verna but the audience hit back by pointing that either Mehwish for Punjab Nahi Jaungi or Uzma Hassan for Arth - The Destination deserved the awards.Actors like Humayun Saeed and Ahmed Ali Butt supported the view that Mehwish Hayat deserved the award. Team Lux Style Awards responded by saying that Best Actress was a viewer's choice award and that the award was not given by jury.Many people responded that Mahira rightly deserve the award as she played the very difficult role of a rape victim in Shoaib Mansoor's Verna.Well known Director and Actor Sarmad Sultan Khoosat said that its unfair with Mahira that she has been the target of so much criticism without any intentions.

“...Punjab Nahi [Jaungi] was one of the best and successful movie, it deserved all the awards. But how can it be ignored in the category of best actress? Mehwish was impeccable in her role. What I don’t understand is if it was a popular award then it was the highest grosser so most of the people went to see it, which in itself tells who people liked more. "I am, not for a second, undermining Mahira. She is the biggest star we have, but Verna was an average film. Okay, if the argument is her performance was stronger then it should have been under the category of critic award and if that is the case that it has mix of both then why not Uzma Hassan, as she was exceptional in Arth...”

"I am sending all LUX awards back. Mehwish Hayat must win. Or say it Mehwish Hayat was too good and Lux wasn't too great.Say it or LUX is irrelevant".
- Actress Saba Qamar also expressed her indignation on Lux in the past. She said that her Hindi Film Debut awakened LUX about her and she has been heavily ignored by LUX for her performances in the past. However Saba did won in 2018 for her remarkable performance for Baaghi. This was the reason of Saba Qamar's boycott from Lux Style Awards.
- Famous commercial director Asim Raza also complained back in 2017 that LUX did not nominate Adeel Hussain in the Best Actor Category for his debut film Ho Mann Jahaan and also complained that LUX also nominated one of the other film's lead actor Sheheryar Munawar in a supporting role
- However LUX manager Fareshteh Alam responded this controversy by saying that “The process is audited from start to finish by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the same organisation that audits the Oscars results. Anyone who has a problem with the results can approach us and see the numbers for themselves."
Missed Nominations
- Pakistan's official submission to oscars of 2017 Saawan directed by Farhan Alam and Najeeba Faiz was not nominated for her much convincing role in the Best Supporting Actress Category.
- Critics argued that films like Chalay Thay Saath and Mehrunisa V Lub U also deserved more in the nominations.
- Film Actress Syra Shehroz 's nomination as Best Film Actress for Chalay Thay Saath
- Shaan Shahid 's nomination as Best Film Actor for Arth - The Destination
- Noman Ijaz's and Sania Saeed's nominations as Best TV Actor and Best TV Actress for their outstanding performances in the drama serial Sang-e-Mar Mar.
