On July 13, 1886, Henry George stated that he would accept the Socialist Labor Party of America's nomination for Mayor of New York City.[1] On July 24, the delegates of the Socialist Labor party convened and nominated George.[2]

The Prohibition Party nominated businessman William T. Wardell.[3]
