1969 Houston Baptist Huskies baseball NAIA District 8 Postseason Champion
NAIA Area II Tournament, 1-2
Conference Independent 1969 record 15-16 Head coach Lonnie Richards[1] Home stadium HBC Diamond Seasons
The 1969 Houston Baptist Huskies baseball team represented Houston Baptist College during the 1969 NAIA Baseball Season. They played a mixture of NCAA and crosstown-rival opponents, going 9-5 against five Houston-area rivals[lower-alpha 1] and 15-16 overall. The Huskies competed in postseason play for the first time in program history, winning the NAIA District 8 Title Game,[lower-alpha 2] before going 1-2 at the NAIA Area II Tournament. They were coached by Lonnie Richards.
Previous Season [ edit ]
The 1968 Houston Baptist Huskies were led by first-year head coach, Lonnie Richards.[1] Originally, the Huskies were scheduled to compete in District 8 of the NAIA, but instead competed as an NAIA independent due to not having the required accreditation.[2] HBC did, however, play a full district schedule, going 7-3 against NAIA District 8 opponents and 17-14 overall.[3] HBC became fully-accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools on December 4, 1968.[4]
