Presidential elections were held in Equatorial Guinea in October 1973 despite incumbent Francisco Macías Nguema having declared himself president for life the previous year. The country was a one-party state at the time with the United National Workers' Party (PUNT) as the sole legal party. As PUNT's leader, Macías Nguema was the only candidate, and was re-elected unopposed.
