From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

This article is part of a series on the
politics and government of
Equatorial Guinea

Presidential elections were held in Equatorial Guinea in October 1973 despite incumbent Francisco Macías Nguema having declared himself president for life the previous year. The country was a one-party state at the time with the United National Workers' Party (PUNT) as the sole legal party. As PUNT's leader, Macías Nguema was the only candidate, and was re-elected unopposed.[1]
