During the 1984–85 English football season, Queens Park Rangers competed in the First Division for the second season after their promotion in 1983.
Season summary[edit]
Appointed in June 1984 to replace Terry Venables, Alan Mullery begin the season as manager but was fired in December after 26 games (11 wins 8 draws and 7 defeats in all competitions)[1].Chairman Jim Gregory appointed caretaker manager Frank Sibley for the reminder of the season. QPR placed 19th place in the First Division, They reached the quarter finals of the League Cup but were beaten in the third round of the FA Cup by Doncaster Rovers .[2] In their Uefa cup campaign home games were played at the ground of fellow first division London team Arsenal : Highbury as Qpr's Omniturf breached Uefa Rules on playing surfaces. they were knocked out of the Uefa cup in round 2 despite a first leg victory by four goals.
