199A® (pronounced "nineteen-ninety-A") or 199a.net is a multi-brand retailer specialising in the sale of high-end streetwear, founded by Australian brothers, Ben and Nick Chiu. 199A®'s flagship store is located in Brisbane, Australia. 199A® stocks designer streetwear brands including Stone Island, WTAPS, Neighborhood, Paloma Wool and Comme des Garçons PLAY. 199A® was created as an evolution of Nick and Ben Chiu's previous store APTMNT and operates alongside A Love Supreme.[1], the brothers’ event and culture-building initiative[2]

History

The brothers have years of experience in the fashion-retail industry, having previously owned and operated both Apartment[3] and Double Double[4] in the Brisbane CBD.

In 2006 Ben and Nick Chiu founded APTMNT, a menswear boutique in Brisbane CBD.[5]

In 2011 APTMNT was affected by the Queensland floods and moved location.[6][7]

In 2012 Ben and Nick Chiu founded A Love Supreme alongside their friend Alex Intas.[8]

In 2019 APTMNT combined with another Brisbane retail store Violent Green, to create Double Double.[9]

In 2023 Double Double split up, and the brothers founded 199A® in a store designed by Brisbane architects Bones Studio.[10][11]
