1E 2259+586 is a type of neutron star that has a strong magnetic field called a magnetar.

This magnetar has a slowing rotation, which is called an “ Anti-Glitch “ because typically, neutron stars have increasing rotation rather than decreasing and the usual increase is called a “ Glitch “ ; hence the name.

10,000 light years away from the sun in the constellation Cassiopeia, 1E 2259+586 was discovered in 1981 by using X-Ray and Gamma Ray detection.

Not only does its magnetic field but also its topology affects the magnetar’s activity.[1]
