2004 Ironman World Championship
The 2004 Ironman World Championship was a long distance triathlon competition held on October 16, 2004 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii that was won by Normann Stadler and Natascha Badmann. It was the 30th edition of the Ironman World Championship, which has been held annually in Hawaii since 1978. The 2004 edition of the race featured stronger than usual winds, resulting in the slowest winning time since 1987 (men's race) and 1985 (women's race). The championship was organized by the World Triathlon Corporation.

Favourites for the 2004 race included Peter Reid, who returned as defending champion, and Chris McCormack, following a sub 8 hour performance in Roth. Normann Stadler out split his nearest rival by 10 minutes on the bike, and the majority of the men's field by 20 minutes or more, to have a large lead starting the marathon. Stadler ran a 2.57 marathon to claim a 10 minute victory over Peter Reid.
