The 2012 Reform Party of New Jersey convention took place on April 14, 2012 in Piscataway, New Jersey.[1]
Presidential Straw Poll[edit]
The Reform Party of New Jersey's presidential straw poll was the earliest barometer by which party members could gage their prospects for the 2012 presidential election. While most theorized that former Louisiana Governor Buddy Roemer would face little competition during the party's nominating process, fitness model Andre Barnett won a surprise victory at the party's convention, thus making him the frontrunner for the Reform Party of the United States presidential nomination. Barnett was the only candidate who addressed the convention; Roemer, Whitley, and McCormick declined invitations to attend the event. Subsequently, Roemer placed second in the straw poll.
