On March 9, 2013, a Mil Mi-8 helicopter with Russian crew crashed near Bukavu, Democratic Republic of the Congo, resulting in the death of all four on board. The helicopter was part of United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Accident[edit]

On 9 March 2013, a United Nations helicopter owned by UTair Aviation crashed due to the weather, killing its entire four-man Russian crew. It was reported that the Mi-8AMT lost communications about 10 miles away from the Bukavu Airport.[1] The location of the crash was near Bukavu city in South Kivu province.[2][3][4][5][6] The bodies were found at the site of the crash.[7]
