The 2016–2017 Brazilian protests were anti-austerity, anti-corruption and anti-government strikes and demonstrations by workers and university students and mostly public sector workers and youth in Brazil. Activists and unions joined the movement against the regime of Fora Temer. Students protested in December and then, more groups joined in strikes in January-February and March-June. As protests escalated, the government introduced new measures and these measures started to anger protesters. Things turned crazy after the 2017 Military Police of Espírito Santo strike and the 2017 Brazilian general strike. General strikes erupted after the national strike and soon, university students and police forces protested against the regime.
