2016 United States election interference by Ukraine

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

A 2017 investigation by the news website Politico alleged that the government of Ukraine interfered in the 2016 United States presidential election by attempting to undermine Donald Trump and promote the election of Hillary Clinton by assisting with the Clinton campaign in opposition research, by publicly questioning the fitness of Donald Trump for elective office, and by disseminating questionable documents that implicated Trump staff in corruption.[1] According to Politico, "the Ukrainian efforts had an impact in the race, helping to force Paul Manafort’s resignation and advancing the narrative that Trump’s campaign was deeply connected to Ukraine’s foe to the east, Russia".[1]

The Politico investigation, which was subsequently re-reported by The Week, followed essentially similar allegations made by the Russian Federation in December 2016 about Ukrainian interference in the U.S. presidential election.[2][3][4]
