Due to players choosing to play for other clubs and a decline in local populations, Lismire and Tullylease amalgamated to field a junior hurling team.

6 teams are left in the Championship. Therefore, the 2 undefeated teams in the Championship (Banteer and Dromtarriffe) were given byes.
Semi-Finals[edit]
Banteer are Duhallow Champions for the first time since 2006 although for the first time both the winners and runners-up will qualify to a new-look 2017 Cork Junior A Hurling Champonship. Traditionally only the Duhallow Champions qualified to the county championship.
