The Trash-Talking[edit]

The Jayhawks decided not to shake the Sooners' hands as a sign of that they were telling the sooners that they had a game to play. Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield screamed to the Kansas fans in the 1st quarter "You only have one win! Go cheer on basketball!"

In the 2nd quarter, Mayfield got cheap shotted by Kansas defender Hasan Defense. Later in that quarter, he threw a touchdown and then afterwards walked to the sidelines and grabbed his crotch twice. There was no more trash-talking after this.

Aftermath[edit]

Oklahoma[edit]

The Oklahoma Sooners eventually made it to the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game and won 41–17 against #10 TCU. This win set them to play in the College Football Playoff as the #2 team. They had to play in the 2018 Rose Bowl. They lost to the #3-ranked Georgia Bulldogs on January 1, 2018, to finish the season ranked third overall, with a 12–2 record.

Kansas[edit]

The Kansas Jayhawks will play one more game afterwards, against Oklahoma State. They lost that game, 17–58, to finish the season 1–11.

Baker Mayfield[edit]

After this game, Baker Mayfield went on to win the Heisman Trophy and get drafted first overall by the Cleveland Browns and lead them to the playoffs, breaking a very long playoff drought.
