From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The City of Vancouver, Canada held an online and in-person election between April 28 and May 14 2017 to designate an official city bird.[1] For three years prior to the 2017 election, which chose a permanent official city bird, city birds were determined through annual elections for one-year terms, winners including the Peregrine Falcon in 2014, the Black-Capped Chickadee in 2015, and the Northwestern Crow in 2016 [2] [3] .The 2017 Election was between four candidates; Anna's Hummingbird, Spotted Towhee, Northern Flicker, and the Varied Thrush, with Anna's Hummingbird prevailing as the winner with 42% of the vote. The election included three weeks of lighthearted campaigning,[1] highlighted on social media sites such as Twitter [4] and through the local media.[5]
