On August 3rd, 2018 at around 8:15 p.m. CST, a large, low-end EF4 rated tornado would go on to produce significant damage south of the unincorporated community of Alonsa, Manitoba, about ~165km (~100mi) northwest of Winnipeg. It would cause 1 fatality and 5 injuries near town. This tornado was also the only tornado rated EF4 in North America in 2018, and the first violent tornado in Canada since the 2007 Elie tornado.
