From 19 to 21 June 2018, floods hit Abidjan, in Ivory Coast.[1]. Twenty people were killed in the floods, which also caused significant damage to houses, streets, and cars, while 115 other people were rescued and taken to shelters.[2] Abidjan, a city of five million people, suffers from infrastructure problems and many homes are built in flood-prone areas. Bishops blamed "corruption in the midst of the natural disaster".[3]
