2018 Moldova protests

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

In August 2018, the 2018 Moldovan protests erupted, angered at high inflation, unemployment, poverty and the main causes: living conditions, harsh working conditions, corruption and joblessness. Thousands protested on 26 August on the first day of demonstrations. They protested, demanding an end to the government and a decrease in poverty rates. Security forces pulled the protesters as they whistled and booed the police and chanted slogans against the regime. Rallies continued through midnight, when protests swelled. The movement spread nationwide with workers and farmers protesting. Enormous disappointment with the government, unemployment, joblessness and inflation collided with strikes by farmers and Independence day. Clashes erupted by daytime and protesters had had enough of the government. Anti-Russia and pro-government rallies were held peacefully nationwide. On 28 August, hundreds of thousands protested against poverty and high corruption in the nation, which led to more protests nationwide. Internet services were cut off for a few hours. The movement and civil unrest came to an end when police clashed with rose-givers and protesters demanded the resignation of the government and president. Anti-presidential demonstrations escalated to violence and clashes, and soon, protesters gave roses to police while rallies were shouting against police brutality and the president. The movement ended on 1 September.
