The 2019-2020 Tennents Scottish League Championship was the 46th season of competitive domestic rugby union in Scotland.
There was a major reorganisation of the top two divisions following the creation of the new semi-professional Super 6 league. The six Premiership clubs that successfully obtained franchise licenses for the new league saw their 1st XV reclassified as "Club XV" and demoted down to National League One. This resulted in the top six teams from the 2018-19 National League One being promoted in their place. Furthermore, it was decided that any player contracted with any Super 6 franchise would be prohibited from playing for Club XV's in the interest of fairness.
This reorganisation saw Ayr RFC, Boroughmuir Rugby, Heriot's RFC, Melrose RFC, Stirling County RFC and Watsonians FC demoted to National League One and replaced in the Premiership by Aberdeen Grammar Rugby, GHA RFC, Jed-Forest RFC, Marr RFC, Musselburgh RFC and Selkirk RFC.
The League Championship's commenced on Saturday 7th September 2019. However, due to the evolving Coronavirus Pandemic the season was suspended on the 7th March 2020 and then declared null and void on the 31st March with no league reaching it's conclusion. All promotion and relegation was scrapped, an issue which heavily effected Biggar RFC, who had secured the National League One title before the season was cancelled.
