Map showing the governing area of South Dublin County Council |
|
An election to South Dublin County Council will take place on 24 May 2019 as part of the Irish local elections. 40 councillors will be elected from seven local electoral areas (LEAs) on the system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote (PR-STV) for a five-year term of office.
In 2014, there were five LEAs each electing either 6 or 8 councillors. Following the recommendations of the Local Area Boundary Committee Report in June 2018, there are now seven LEAs each electing between 5 and 7 councillors.[2]
